Acronis Internet Security Suite Editor's Review

Acronis Internet Security 2010 – one of the newest but important product of Acronis security solutions – is a complete suite designed to protect your computer against internal and external threats and all that might be considered a risk: viruses, malware, spyware, hackers, phishers, etc.

The suite has a two-way built in firewall which grants access only to authorized users but it has also a very useful feature - user management - to block access to inappropriate websites and set the time when children can access the internet or games; you can also lock important files or information in a secured encrypted “chest”, called Acronis data vault.

The interface is intuitive, with well-placed options and settings, customizable UI (user interface) for novice, intermediate or expert users. There are usage profile features for gamers (which will reduce the number of popups and interruption while playing), parents (to block inappropriate websites, get internet activity reports to e-mail, etc.) or you can customize it to suite your needs.

Installing the software and scanning went quite fast on the computer on which we’ve been testing the product. We liked that it didn’t slow down the computer too much due to the smart scanning system which identifies safe files that don't need scanning. After that, it moves on to those that do, so it reduces the CPU processing requirements and also the scanning time. Afterwards, we scanned the computer and fixed some vulnerability issues that the suite had found in the system. We switched to the expert UI and it was impressive to see that you can really customize everything the way you want to: firewall, home network, IM encryption, parental control, etc.

The product can be installed on up to 3 PC’s and can be bought at the price tag of $59.99 for up to a year subscription.

Pluses: Parental controls and network management; instant Messaging Encryption; optimized scanning technology for fast scanning; laptop mode - to preserve battery life; lock sensitive files and personal information.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: Overall, Acronis Internet Security 2010 it a great product from a company that had earned word-wide customers' trust with their products.
